Album Notes
The following text is from the CD liner notes:
Little did we know when we recorded this album in 1959, that it would play such a sentimental part in the Christmas traditions of so many people.
This was our very first Christmas album. For us, the picture on the cover, in our red velvet dresses evokes so many nostalgic memories of our own holiday seasons.
These songs are all traditional favorites, but a few of them are more special to us. We remember "little Janet" singing "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus" every year on the Lawrence Welk Show. "Winter Wonderland" was one of the first songs we sang for Mr. Welk when we performed charity shows with him.
It was emotional to record "I'll Be Home for Christmas" because Dee Dee's (Dianne) fiance' was in the army at the time and would not be home for Christmas that year.
For all of you who have told us over the years that Christmas would not be Christmas without decorating your tree to the sounds of this album, we dedicate this reissue to you with love.
Happy Holidays
